A 30-bit 400x800dpi (optical), 4800x4800dpi (interpolated) flatbed A4 scanner. I have connected this to the supplied SCSI card as I had problems running it on my Adaptec SCSI card (without buying new cables). Fortunately this card does not require any resources to run (no IRQs or DMAs) which is good because I'm almost out of them anyway.
Good output is achievable, in fact too good. It highlights the problems of using developed photographs: blemishes and the grain of the photograph become evident if scanned in high resolutions. As you may have gathered, all photographic images on this site have been scanned with this unit.
Optical Character Recognition also works quite well, although I will need a better package than Xerox Textbridge Classic before I can be certain how well. The feature I think is most interesting is its ability to scan 3D objects. For example I can scan my face, even though it makes me look like Jabba the Hutt. The best 3D scan I have done so far is of a Pringles container.
